Advocate @ Afiya Peer Respite (Northampton), 34.5 hours (potential for 40 hours if combined with bridger position). Join the Afiya team and offer direct peer support to individuals experiencing deep emotional distress who are avoiding hospitalization and other more invasive interventions. Listen, partner to explore resources and options, and help create and maintain a welcoming and healing physical space. May also include answering the Peer Support Phone Line that is located at the house. Includes some weekend/overnight hours. Wages will be (based on training experience and/or bilingual fluency).

Your own experience living through trauma, psychiatric diagnosis, homelessness, addiction and/or a variety of other life-interrupting challenges required. Understanding and commitment to examining and undoing systemic oppression related to racism, gender, psychiatric diagnosis, etc., also required. A vehicle you are able and willing to use for work is strongly preferred, and required for any bridging hours. Intentional Peer Support, Certified Peer Specialist training and other trainings relevant to peer-to-peer work (Hearing Voices, Alternatives to Suicide, etc.) a plus. Bilingual/Bicultural (English/Spanish) a plus.  AA/EOE.
