Advocate based at Afiya Peer Respite, 30+ hours. Participate in creating a healing environment, offering peer support, and facilitating the opportunity to turn what often gets called “crisis” into a learning opportunity in a house that offers a non-clinical alternative to hospitalization. Also includes support offered by phone on the Peer Support Line.

Required: First-hand experience with psychiatric diagnosis, trauma, extreme states, and/or other life-interrupting challenges; Commitment to undoing racism, sexism, and other systemic oppression; Willingness and ability to be available for more hours on occasion to complete required core trainings (travel to the Holyoke area for trainings may also be required).

Preferred: Knowledge of local resources; Knowledge of peer support and related movements. For the Community Coordinator role, some leadership experience or demonstrated ability is also preferred. A Plus: Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English or ASL/English); Intentional Peer Support, Hearing Voices, Alternatives to Suicide training, and other related trainings. $14 to 15.50 per hour depending on training and bilingual abilities.
