The Western Mass RLC is hiring!! The positions below are based on an anticipated contract we hope to begin in early 2020. We hope you will consider joining us and/or helping us get the word out!!

Black Community Coordinator, 20 hrs per week: It is anticipated that this position will focus statewide on outreach, bridge building, and involvement of the voice of black people who have also faced emotional distress, trauma, problems with substances, and other life-interrupting challenges in public policy development and more.

Youth Community Coordinator, 20 hrs per week: It is anticipated that this position will focus statewide on outreach, bridge building, and involvement of the voice of young people who have also faced emotional distress, trauma, problems with substances, and other life-interrupting challenges in public policy development and more.

Latinx Community Coordinator, 20 hrs per week: It is anticipated that this position will focus statewide on outreach, bridge building, and involvement of the voice of people of Hispanic or Latin heritage who have also faced emotional distress, trauma, problems with substances, and other life-interrupting challenges in public policy development and more.

LGBTQQIA+ Community Coordinator, 20 hrs per week: It is anticipated that this position will focus statewide on outreach, bridge building, and involvement of the voice of people who identify on the LGBTQQIA+ spectrum and who have also faced emotional distress, trauma, problems with substances, and other life-interrupting challenges in public policy development and more.

Cross-Disability Community Coordinator, 20 hrs per week: It is anticipated that this position will focus statewide on outreach, bridge building, and involvement of the voice of disabled people who have also faced emotional distress, trauma, problems with substances, and other life-interrupting challenges in public policy development and more.

Interfaith Coordinator, 10 hrs per week: Faith communities often serve as a place where people make valuable connections and find meaning and support. It is anticipated that this position will focus on outreach, bridge building, and the creation of new opportunities that recognize this important part of many people’s lives.

Benefits Specialist, 10 hrs per week: SSI, SSDI, and other benefits can be essential to help people survive when going through a difficult time. Unfortunately, these complicated systems can also act as a barrier for people who are ready or want to work.  It is anticipated that this position will focus on supporting people to better understand how to navigate these systems and achieve their goals.

Director, 8 hrs per week: It is anticipated that one of the above positions will be given an additional 8 hours per week to provide oversight, supervision, and program development.

Job responsibilities will have a statewide focus, and may include support group facilitation, training, individual support, event planning, work with legislators and others involved in public policy, and more. All positions listed above will pay $19 to $20.50 per hour based on bilingual language abilities and completion of core trainings, with the exception of the Director role which will pay $21.50 to $23.

Requirements: Job requirements include first-hand experience with the focus area for which you are applying. For example, if you are  applying for the black community coordinator position, you must be black, or if applying for the cross-disability coordinator you must identify as having a disability, and if applying for the Benefits  Specialist you must have had experience being on benefits like SSI or SSDI, etc.

All positions also require first-hand experience with psychiatric diagnosis, trauma, homelessness, problems with substances, and/or other life interrupting challenges. A commitment to raising awareness of and undoing racism, transphobia, ableism, psychiatric oppression and other forms of systemic oppression is also required. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English, ASL/English, etc.) are a big plus for any position, and is strongly preferred for the Latinx Coordinator. Translation experience a big plus, too!

Experience working with legislators and other public policy makes, knowledge of and experience offering peer support, and experience working with statewide projects are all also desired, though not required. Training in Intentional Peer Support, Alternatives to Suicide, Hearing Voices, and other relevant trainings also a plus.

Individuals applying for the Director position should also have some experience with one or more of the following tasks: Project oversight, supervision of employees, project development, and/or managing funder relationships.

Given the statewide focus, access and ability to use a vehicle for work is strongly preferred for all positions, as is experience using on-line meeting technologies (Skype, Zoom, etc.), e-mail, etc.
