The Consortium is in search of a Self-Advocacy Coordinator. This position involves 30+ weekly afternoon and evening hours providing support to local self-advocacy groups in Holyoke and Springfield, as well as the West Region Self-Advocacy Planning Team. Self-Advocacy empowers people with developmental disabilities – by ensuring that their voices are heard, their choices are respected and skills expanded. Position responsibilities include supporting self-determination, individual mentoring and group support, developing leadership skills, community support, and public relations. Duties include coordinating meetings, actively participating in legislative and community advocacy, identifying resources, supervising self-advocacy facilitator, coordinating an annual self-advocacy conference and providing detailed documentation. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, competency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media, as well as flexibility in scheduling required. Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Excellent benefits offered.
