Peer Support – Part-Time, Per-Diem $19 per hour
Peer Support position available in Greenfield. This position is at the center of our work and involves making connections with each person who walks through the front door of the center in a positive, forward facing way. The goal is to be present with each person as they journey on their path of recovery, offer support and affirmation that they are their own best experts, and connect them with various events and peers in the space to build connection and contribution. The successful candidate will have personal lived experience in substance use recovery, and able to work a flexible schedule including availability for some evening, weekend, and holiday hours. The RECOVER Project is committed to recruiting; training and supporting staff who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color; bicultural/bilingual Spanish preferred. We will gladly provide training and mentoring as needed for candidates with lived experience who meet the qualifications and demonstrate a commitment and passion for the RECOVER Project mission and values.
In the role of Peer Support this person will acclimate peers to the center, create a climate of recovery using recovery language, support peers to build on their recovery capital, mentor them in leadership roles and model a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for all RECOVER Project participants. The successful candidate will uphold the value of multiple pathways of recovery, support peer to peer connections and be familiar with local resource information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a requirement.
- Personal lived experience with challenges related to and with substance use
- Personal involvement with community aspect(s) of recovery from substance use
- Bilingual/bicultural Spanish preferred.
- Some knowledge of community organizations that support people in recovery
- Written and oral skills that allow one to successfully communicate through written and public means with organizations and communities served
- Demonstrated skillset with facilitating groups, utilizing a trauma sensitive approach, problem solving, and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of social media and office platforms, such as Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Facebook, etc.
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
