Salasin Project supports individuals and families that have experienced trauma with a focus on participants who have experienced sexual or domestic violence. Salasin applies a wellness orientation to provide empowerment based peer advocacy and assistance and uses a person centered approach. We welcome applicants of all races; cultures; sexual orientation; gender expression; and incomes; especially those with lived experiences of sexual and domestic violence; receiving basic needs assistance and/or interacting with child protective services. Salasin is committed to recruiting; training and supporting staff who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). A 26 hour pre service orientation and training is provided to all new staff. We will gladly provide additional training and mentoring as needed for candidates with lived experience who demonstrate a commitment and passion for the Salasin mission and values.
The Latina/x Individual and Family Support Advocate is a full time (40 hrs), benefitted position starting at $18.50/hr plus a language stipend. The Advocate will provide strength-based, trauma-informed outreach and support, including home and/or community visits to individuals and families who have experienced interpersonal/domestic violence; support participants in their efforts to create safety; advocate with and for participants and provide guidance in the navigation of multiple systems; assist participants in accessing resources and provide information and referrals to community services and supports; and co-lead support groups.
Qualifications: Bilingual/Bicultural with ability to provide advocacy and support in Spanish required; English language proficiency required; demonstrated experience working with individuals of diverse racial, cultural, religious backgrounds and individuals/families with limited incomes; particularly the Latinx community; understanding of the centrality of trauma. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record, and reliable transportation; position includes driving throughout Franklin County
