Peer and Community Engagement Coordinator- Full time benefits, 40 hrs. per week at $22 per hr.

The RECOVER Project, a program of The Western MA Training Consortium has a 40-hour position available serving as a Peer and Community Engagement Coordinator in Greenfield, MA. This position involves fostering connection and involvement between new and existing community partnerships, resources, and persons in recovery from substance use, and requires a candidate to have personal lived experience with substance use recovery. The RECOVER Project is a peer-to-peer support organization, meaning that we base our approach to recovery on equality between paid roles and supported roles, value the wisdom of lived experience over traditional models, and prioritize self-determination as it relates to abstinence, harm reduction, the many pathways of recovery, and individuals desired way of interacting within the community. Our Peer and Community Engagement Coordinator will build appropriate relationships with our peer community, support them in discovering how they see themselves in the community, and connect them to the internal and external community through volunteerism, participation, and/or paid positions that they may be interested in as part of furthering their individual recovery. This will require the ability and willingness to build and sustain connections with community organizations. Though we will share our existing connections and facilitate relationships where we can, the ability to independently research and connect with community resources and projects is essential to this position.

Additionally, our Peer and Community Engagement Coordinator will be open to publicly representing the RECOVER Project by mentoring and partnering with our peer community to offer community education through a social media presence, occasional presentations to related organizations, and providing trainings to providers and community members on our core values, our mission, and our approach. Organizational support is available to develop these skills through mentorship and trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Personal lived experience around challenges related to and with substance use
  • Personal involvement with community aspect(s) of recovery from substance use
  • Some knowledge of community organizations that support people in recovery
  • Written and oral skills that allow one to successfully communicate through written and public means with organizations and communities served
  • Knowledge of social media and office platforms, such as Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Facebook, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
