Bilingual & Bicultural experience (English/Spanish or English/ASL)

 The Alternatives to Suicide On-Line Coordinator will support the growth of our Alternatives to Suicide on-line supports and community. Responsibilities will include coordination of on-line groups and supervision of on-line facilitators, moderation of Discord server and related supports, and facilitation of on-line groups and community forums and some 1:1 peer support. Will also include collaboration on management of social media accounts and Alternatives to Suicide webpage. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation:

$25.00 – $27.00/per hour based on completion of core trainings, skills, and experience.

Hours:

25 to 30 hours per week.

Location: 

This is primarily a remote position, with the ability to set your schedule in collaboration with other team members with whom you’ll be working.

Requirements:

¨ Investment in the value of peer support and alternatives to conventional clinical systems

¨ Overall familiarity with peer support principles and approaches

¨ Your own experience living through trauma, psychiatric diagnosis, houselessness, problems with substances and/or a variety of other life-interrupting challenges

¨ Your own experience with suicidal thoughts and/or attempts

¨ Investment in non-carceral and harm reduction approaches to suicide

¨ Understanding and commitment to examining and undoing systemic oppression related to racism, gender, psychiatric diagnosis, etc.

¨ Familiarity with Zoom, Discord, social media and other on-line venues and tools (Familiarity with some and willingness and ability to learn others considered)

¨ Prior group facilitation experience and familiarity with facilitation strategies and principles

¨ Ability to work independently.

¨ Ability to participate at least periodically in meetings and trainings in Springfield and/or Holyoke Area.

 Strongly Preferred:

¨ Resident in or adjacent to Massachusetts with familiarity with Massachusetts-based communities and resources

¨ Some coordination experience (scheduling, supervision, etc.)

¨ Experience moderating on-line groups and communities.

¨ Some evening and/or weekend availability

¨ Prior completion of Alternatives to Suicide group facilitator and/or When Conversation Turns to Suicide trainings.

A Plus:

¨ Intentional Peer Support, and/or other trainings relevant to peer-to-peer support (Hearing Voices, etc.)

¨ Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/ASL)/Bicultural.
