The Consortium in partnership with the Wildflower Alliance would like to announce the following positions:

Anemoni peer respite will be based in Holyoke, Massachusetts. It will be an “affinity” peer respite offered by and for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Anemoni will include a 5-bedroom house, as well as ‘mobile peer respite’ which will include the same sort of support offered to people staying at peer respite, but while they remain out in the community. (Mobile peer respite can be offered by Anemoni Bridgers via phone, on-line or in person.)

We will be hiring for the following positions:

  • Assistant Director, 40 hours, (Also willing to consider a shared Assistant Directorship between two 20-hour employees), $27 to $29 per hour*
  • Senior Advocate, 20 to 40 hours, $23 to $25 per hour*
  • Advocates, 10 to 40 hours, $19 to $21 per hour*
  • Bridgers, 10 to 40 hours, $20 to $22 per hour*

*Actual hours will be based on the needs of the individual being hired and the respite/shifts open. Actual pay will be based on completion of core trainings and bilingual/bicultural abilities and experience.

Assistant Director, 40 hours (will also consider a shared Assistant Directorship with two 20-hour Assistant Directors), $27 to $29 per hour. Share oversight, schedule coordination and other leadership responsibilities with the Director, as well as regular direct peer-to-peer support of people staying at Anemoni. Will also be a part of the on-call rotation. Requirements*: Some demonstrated leadership experience and/or peer support experience with leadership potential (based on reliability, investment, etc.). Some flexibility to work weekends and/or evenings and manage being on-call every three to four weeks. Living within 45 minutes of the house strongly preferred.

Senior Advocate, 20 to 40 hours, $23 to $25 per hour. Work primarily offering direct peer-to-peer support while serving as a bridge between advocates and team leadership and sharing in the on-call rotation (once every three to four weeks). Assist with ordering (food, supplies, etc.) with the house. Requirements*: Some past peer support or relatable experience strongly preferred. Some experience with different peer support approaches strongly preferred. Living within 45 minutes of the house strongly preferred.

Advocate, 10 to 40 hours, $19 to $21 per hour. Work offering direct support at Anemoni’s house in Holyoke, MA and assisting with keeping the house a welcoming environment. Participate in meeting with people who are interested in staying at the house to talk about whether or not it’s a good fit and help them learn what is available there. Other duties as assigned. Requirements*: Some past experience in peer support, advocacy or other relatable activities a big plus!

Bridgers, 10 to 40 hours, $20 to $22 per hour. Work offering direct support via Anemoni’s mobile respite by phone, on-line or in person to people located throughout Western Massachusetts. May be expected to participate in a rotation for off hour emergency support on-call (offered by phone or on-line only and with an additional stipend for being on-call). Requirements*: Must have a reliable vehicle able to use for work. Able to work independently. Some past experience in peer support, advocacy or other relatable activities a big plus!

Per Diem Advocates and Bridgers, As needed hours, $18 to $20 per hour. Fill in when an Advocate or Bridger are out sick or on vacation or when extra support is needed. Responsibilities will be similar to that of the Advocates and Bridgers. Requirements*: A vehicle may be required for some Bridger shifts. Prior experience in peer support or similar roles a big plus!

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ANEMONI POSITIONS: Personal experience with and deep investment in LGBTQIA+ and deep familiarity with discrimination and other challenges commonly experienced by individuals who are LGBTQIA+. Investment in raising awareness of and taking action to undo the negative impacts of all forms of systemic oppression. Deep investment in peer support values and approaches. Understanding of and investment in affinity spaces (spaces built around the needs of specific marginalized communities). Must be able and willing to sit with people in deep distress and stay present, engaged and curious with people who may be talking about self-injury, suicidal thoughts, disturbing voices and similar.
