Wildflower Alliance
40 hours, $62,400 to $70,720 (salaried position)
Afiya peer respite was the first peer respite in MA and the 13th in the country. As Afiya’s current Director prepares to transition over to our new peer respite (Anemoni) we are seeking a new Director for Afiya.
Afiya’s mission is to offer an alternative to an inpatient psychiatric unit and other more invasive interventions, while also creating space for turning crisis into a learning opportunity. The house centers around peer-to-peer support. All people working at the house (including leadership) must have their own psychiatric history or other related experience and be willing to use the wisdom they’ve gained through navigating that experience to support their work in the house.
The Director will be responsible for a variety of tasks including supervision, report writing and outcomes, outreach, quality improvement and more. Some regular direct peer-to-peer support, as well as on-call responsibilities shared with other leadership team members in the house. Some participation in national peer respite coalition work also expected.
Requirements:
Residency within 45-minutes of the respite. Demonstrated experience with managerial tasks like scheduling, guideline development, etc. Deep fundamental belief in and understanding of peer support values and approaches. Commitment to recognizing and undoing all forms of systemic oppression. Proficient computer and Internet skills. A reliable vehicle you are able to use for work when needed. Must be able and willing to sit with people in deep distress and stay present, engaged and curious with people who may be talking about self-injury, suicidal thoughts, disturbing voices and similar, as well as able to support others to learn to do the same.
Preferred:
Supervisory experience. Meeting facilitation experience. Familiarity with the broader psychiatric survivor and other related movements.
A-plus: Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Trainer. Training facilitation experience. Bilingual/bicultural in English/Spanish or English/ASL. Prior completion of Wildflower core trainings (IPS, Alternatives to Suicide, Hearing Voices, Anti-Oppression).
