This position is a salaried, full-time role and is in-person working from our offices in downtown Holyoke. There is regular local travel required to our various programs and communities throughout Western Mass.

The Director of Operations is a hands-on leadership position that ensures all environmental functions reflect the Consortium’s mission and values. This leader supervises the full-time IT Coordinator and works closely with the Consortium’s contracted property management and IT consulting companies. Primary responsibilities include building relationships and listening for community voice (through the Program Directors, community members and employees, etc.), addressing information technology, and repair and maintenance needs and related purchases, assessing and managing operational costs, identifying efficiencies, forecasting operational needs and determining effective systems in a social justice, values led, non-profit. This hands-on position directs and ensures that the Consortium’s operations, risk management and information technology functions are effective and operate in compliance with applicable regulations. The Director of Operations reports directly to the Executive Director and works as a key member of the Program Director Team. This position includes on-call responsibilities related to operations.

Physical Working Environment:
- Fully in-person work environment.
- Position requires regional travel to fulfill responsibilities.
- Position is hands on and includes lifting, assembling, moving large items, etc.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Strong operations experience: ideally has worked in a lead operations role for 4+ years in a socially responsible organization committed to social justice; demonstrated experience in operations leadership including repair and maintenance, project planning, budgeting, and information technology management. Skilled in IT related equipment including set up, problem solving, partnering with an IT consulting company and teaching employees how to use equipment. Demonstrated experience in creating conditions for community and a sense of belonging.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skills should include property related project management and resource development, digital systems implementation, developing and monitoring repair and maintenance related and IT systems that support our programs and communities; Proven expertise in the planning and execution of property related construction projects.
Strong understanding and acumen of existing and emergent Information Technologies. Must be highly organized, experienced in establishing flexible, accountable systems, able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and ability to take initiative while being a strong communicator. Excellent interpersonal skills which welcome and value all and reflect a commitment to social justice. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, honesty and commitment to the mission.
Ability to lift at least 50lbs., have reliable transportation, reliable and safe lifting practices, ability to safely drive a U-Haul truck or similar to transport equipment and furniture at times. Willingness to perform maintenance and janitorial services as needed related to repairs/property needs.
Ability to strengthen range of environmental supports in line with the Consortium’s mission vision.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor’s degree required (demonstrated work experience in lieu of degree may be considered).
